Holiday Network Progress

Even with lots of holiday activities over the weekend, we’re always working to keep our network running. This weekend we were excited to install new 60ghz millimeter wave radio technology to help improve performance and reliability of our free to the public hotspots and disaster recovery network installations.

And even on Christmas eve and day, we’ve been busy programming radios working to prepare a new site to help provide connectivity to the North Shore including Cinnamon Bay beach which is now serving visitors but does not have cellular service.

With commercial service providers slowly returning to the island in places like Cruz Bay, it’s easy for some to forget that that there is still much of the island that depends on our connectivity or still has no connectivity at all.

We cannot thank St John Rescue enough for their support of emergency communications on this island, as well as Help.NGO’s Global DIRT team for their administrative assistance supporting our project.
